TUAM TD SAYS RUMOURS OF ATTEMPT AT EURO PARLIAMENT SEAT ARE PREMATURE

TUAM-based Independent TD Com Keaveney says rumours that he is planning to run in next year's European elections are "premature".

The former Labour TD and Chairman of the parlimintary party, who lost the whip when he voted against Social Welfare cuts in last December's budget, says his priorities currently revolve around his constituents in East Galway.

He is currently an Independent TD in Dail Eireann and remains highly critical of many of the Government's policies.

While not willing to be drawn on a possible tilt at a European Parliament seat in the future, he said rumours in a national newspaper of him already putting plans in place for next year's Euro elections are "premature"
