TUAM COUNCIL REJECTS SPORTS FACILITIES PLANS

Date Published: 19-Apr-2011
Hundreds of people gathered outside the Town Hall in Tuam last evening [18/4] to protest over plans to lose a green area in the centre of the town.
Galway County Council proposed to develop tennis courts and an astro turf pitch at the Palace Grounds.
The plans were unanimously rejected at a meeting of the Town Council in the Town Hall last night.
The plans would have formed part of a major development which includes an inner relief road in Tuam.
However locals in Tuam objected to the development of the Palace Grounds which has long been a green area and walking route.
