TUAM COCA COLA STAFF MAY PICKET NEXT WEEK

Staff at the Coca Cola Distribution Centre in Tuam may picket next week in a row over the outsourcing of jobs.Trade union, SIPTU, served strike notice on Coca Cola Ireland in a bid to save 27 jobs at the Tuam distribution centre, and other distribution centres around the country.The company says the transfer and outsourcing of jobs is necessary to re-organise its distribution and warehouse network here.But the union says the company refused to negotiate new terms and conditions for the workers.SIPTU says picketing at distribution centres, including Tuam, may begin from Wednesday unless a resolution is reached.
