Tourism in the West of Ireland has dropped by over a third in the past decade.

That's according to the latest report from the Irish Tourism Industry Confederation, which will be launched in the city this morning.

The Confederation says demand for tourism in Western counties has dropped by an estimated 37 percent between 1999 and 2010.

The report suggests that the hospitality industry in the West needs to focus more on promoting local heritage and food and create reasons to visit the region.
