Galway county councillors have organised a meeting with the Transport Minister, N6 Construction contractors and the National Roads Authority amid growing concern over road conditions in East Galway. At this week's council meeting county councillors described the condition of the roads off the new N6 Ballinasloe to Galway road as "deplorable", with "pot holes as big as craters" and severe damage done to road verges. They claim it's being caused by heavy machinery. Cllr Michael Regan has called for an immediate survey of all roads connected to the N6 to be carried out before the meeting with the Transport Minister, N6 Contractors and NRA. Mayor of County Galway Peter Feeney says the uncertainty over who should pay for the damage caused to local roads needs to be clarified.
