TOMORROW''S BUS EIREANN SCHOOL BUS STRIKE OFF

Date Published: 21-Feb-2013
Bus Eireann is to revert back to trade unions next week after it conducts a review on threatened industrial action on 96 Galway school bus routes.
A strike planned for tomorrow (Feb 22) has now been called off after a meeting with SIPTU yesterday.
The dispute concerns cuts to working hours and would involve strike action by 37 part-time Bus Eireann drivers.
A spokeperson for Bus Eireann told Galway Bay fm news the dispute has been ongoing since 2011 and it has engaged in discussions with the LRC and through the Labour Court.
SIPTU says Galway's case on how part-time hours are changed needs to be dealt with before the end of the school year - It's also calling for hours to be restored to 3 part-time bus drivers.
Bus Eireann has moved to reassure the public that arrangements will be made to serve the 96 routes affected in cases of any future industrial action.
