THREE GARDA STATIONS TO COVER CORRANDULLA DISTRICT

Date Published: 28-Feb-2012

Three Garda stations will now cover townlands in Corrandulla following the Government's decision to close the Garda station.

Over 30 townlands in Corrandulla will move into the Headford Garda district while Corofin will cover townlands nearest its base.

Loughgeorge will cover the larger Corrandulla/Annaghdown area.

It follows consultation with public representatives and Gardaí after the Justice Minister put Corrandulla on the list of 31 stations to close this year.

Corrandulla now has just one permanent Garda, compared to 10 years ago when a Sergeant and two gardaí were stationed in the area.
