Thousands expected for Macnas Parade

Thousands of people will descend on the city this afternoon to watch the Macnas Halloween street parade.

The event moved this year from its traditional spot in the July Galway arts festival over funding issues.

The parade 'on the night journey' will leave Fisheries field at about quarter to 5 and travel up Eglinton street, down shop street and head towards Wolfe Tone bridge.

It will take about two hours and come to an end down the west on the corner of Lower Dominick street and Henry street.
