Tenders for Lough Derg survey as part of Irish Water project
Galway Bay fm newsroom - Water from Lough Derg in South Galway could be used in a multi-million euro project to supply Dublin.
Irish Water is seeking tenders for a survey specialist to examine the water quality in Lough Derg, from where the water will be sourced.
Lough Derg borders the counties of Galway, Clare and Tipperary.
When the Irish Water project is completed, around 350 million litres a day will come from the River Shannon to serve Dublin drinking water for the next 70 years.
The aim of the specialist survey will be to assess the most appropriate sustainable water abstraction regime.
The contracting authority is Bord Gais Eireann on behalf of Irish Water and there is an urgent need to award the contract.
Expressions of interest must therefore be submitted directly to Bord Gais by this day fortnight, Monday March 3rd at 5p.m
