TEENAGER DIES AFTER GORT CRASH

An 18 year old man, who was seriously injured in a crash south of Gort last night, has died in hospital.

The single vehicle collision happened at 11.40 last night on the N18, around two miles outside Gort on the old Ennis road.

The local teenager was seriously injured and taken to University Hospital Galway where he later died from his injuries.

A male passenger was also injured and is in a stable condition at UHG.

Gardai in Gort have closed the scene of the crash on the N18 until later this afternoon to carry out a forensic collision examination.

Diversions are in place at Lough Cutra for motorists coming from Ennis and at Blackwater for motorists travelling south from Gort.
