TB HOTLINE TO BE LAUNCHED AFTER DIAGNOSIS OF GALWAY TEEN

Date Published: 22-May-2012
A new hotline is to go live later today to help people with queries on TB.
It's after a 16 year old in Galway was diagnosed as having an extremely aggressive form of the disease, which is understood to have mutated in order to resist existing treatments.
The teenager is now being treated in hospital - and staff and students at the school are being offered screening for the condition.
A spokesperson for HSE West has said the risk of transmission is low.
