SURVEY FINDS PUBLIC DRUNKENESS DETERS ECONOMIC GROWTH IN BALLINASLOE

Date Published: 27-Aug-2012
Public drunkeness in Ballinasloe must be addressed if the town is to reach its full potential for economic growth.
That's just one of the findings of a new survey led by local deputy Paul Connaughton which aims to promote local trade and address current challenges in the East Galway town.
The survey of residents in the Ballinasloe urban-rural area was carried out in May.
Paid parking was also reported as a key issue for 80 percent of respondents followed by the limited range of good-value clothes shops.
The friendliness of staff was cited as a major attraction for the town where a large portion of consumers opt to shop local for everyday items such as groceries and pharmacy products.
Deputy Connaughton told FYI Galway that the town has huge potential and that concerns regarding public drunkeness WILL be tackled.
