Galway Bay fm newsroom - Calls from Galway farmers in distress to Console's dedicated farm and rural stress helpline are on the rise. The suicide prevention charity, which has a centre in Renmore, says the increase is mainly due to financial worries and the fodder shortage at the start of the summer.Nationally, over 5,200 people from rural communities contacted Console from March to September, compared to just 1,316 callers in the previous six months. That's a 300 per-cent increase.Console's 24-hour Farm and Rural Stress helpline is operated by the organisation on behalf of the Health Service Executive.
