STUDENT UNION PRESIDENTS HIT OUT AT UNOFFICIAL RAG WEEK PAGE

Date Published: 22-Jan-2013
The Student Union presidents of NUIG and GMIT have hit out at an anonymous Facebook page which is rallying students for an unofficial RAG week next month.
The page called RAG WEEK Galway 2013 has attracted over 4,200 followers and has set Feb 18th as the start date for celebrations.
Such plans do not have the support of the students union at NUIG or GMIT.
NUIG Student Union President Paul Curley says students sent a clear message when they voted against RAG week last year and a culture change has taken place.
GMIT Student Union President Joe O'Connor says a one day MOXYGEN charity event is being held by the group in late February, however any unofficial rag week events outside of that are outside of the union's control.
