STRIKE TO GO AHEAD AT COUNTY COUNCIL ON MONDAY

Date Published: 22-May-2009
Up to 400 SIPTU members in Galway County Council are going on strike from Monday. It's over the decision by the county council to lay off 40 outdoor staff as a result of April's mini-budget. Services throughout the county are expected to be severely disrupted as the dispute escalates. SIPTU served strike notice of industrial action to the county council two weeks ago. Discussions yesterday between the county council and SIPTU proved fruitless.
