Restrictions on stocking levels on the Maamturk and Twelve Bens mountains in Connemara will remain in place until next year.

The issue was raised in the Dáil this week by Galway West, Fianna Fáil T.D, Éamon Ó Cuív.

He said the permitted stocking levels of sheep and cattle in these special areas of conservation in Connemara need to be re-assessed.
