Key stakeholders are to meet tonight to discuss the feasibility of a third Volvo Ocean Race bid for Galway.

The gathering is led by Let's Do It Global, the group behind the last two events which brought the first stopover to the city in 2009, followed by this summer's finale.

If Galway is to be in with a chance to be a host port in the 2014/2015 race, a bid must be submitted by the end of this month.

The organising group has raised concerns over the current not-for-profit funding structure and has called for a system change through government tourism partnerships or collaborations with local authorities.

Micheline McNamara of Let's Do It Global says key stakeholders including Failte Ireland and the Harbour Board are invited to attend tonights meeting.
