ST. Patrick’s set up an all Galway clash with Ballinasloe Town in the Fourth Round of the Connacht Junior Cup after the Caherlistrane based side emerged 3-2 away winners over Aughannagh Celtic in Boyle on Sunday.

Christy Costello’s side made an early breakthrough when Richie Molloy fired them in front and that advantage was doubled when Rory Glynn slotted home from the penalty spot after Oisin O’Brien was fouled in the box.

The home side made it competitive when Alan Flynn got the better of David Coyle to pull one back before the break, but it was the visitors who got the next crucial break when awarded another penalty after Ronan Conneely had his jersey tugged in the box.

Once more Glynn applied the finish from the spot for a 3-1 lead and St Patrick’s comfortable held on, despite Flynn getting a second in the closing minutes for Aughannagh.

The home side were two up at the break before stretching that advantage to 4-1 in the second half.

Though Kevin Fox and Shane Concannon pulled back two late goals for the visitors, the home side always enjoyed an edge as they prevailed by the odd goal in seven, 4-3.
