SPECULATION OVER FUTURE OF GALWAY MEDICAL COMPANY

Date Published: 29-Aug-2011

City medical firm Beckman Coulter is refusing to confirm or deny reports that it's moving to Clare.

It's understood the company is re-organising its operations to a newly purchased establishment in O'Callaghan's Mills in County Clare - with the possible loss of hundreds of Galway jobs.

The medical diagnostic kit manufacturer has been in operation in Mervue Industrial Estate for 35 years.

When contacted by Galway Bay FM News, a spokesperson for the multinational said the company had "no comment" to make.
