Almost 20 special needs students from four Galway primary schools are to lose out in the cutbacks in the Education sector.Scoil Bhríde in Shantalla, Scoil Caitriona junior and Scoil Caitriona senior both in Renmore, and Scoil an Chroi Naofa in Ballinasloe will all have their special needs class shut down from September of this year. The four schools were notified this week that the number of students in each of the special needs classes was simply too low to justify the four teaching posts.Under Department of Education Guidelines, special needs classes must meet a minimum retention figure of nine pupils.
