A solution has been worked out to the shortage of nurses threatening the orthopaedic unit at Merlin Park hospital
A health services recruitment embargo is being lifted and nursing staff have also agreed to work additional paid hours
Consultants at the hospital had written to the health minister, warning that nursing shortages would engorge outpatient waiting lists by three hundred per cent, and that elective surgeries would be halved
