SIPTU trade union wants those accused of harassing staff at a site on the Headford road to be taken before the courts.

It's alleged that on Monday, city council staff at the Carrowbrowne compost site were subjected to threatening and abusive behaviour by people living nearby.

It's also being reported that fencing surrounding the compost site was cut and knocked over, and horses are roaming illegally on the site.

The staff involved in the incident at the muti-million euro composting facility have now been redeployed elsewhere until the matter is resolved.
