SINEAD CONNAUGHTON TO LEAVE LOCAL POLITICS

Fine Gael county councillor, Sinéad Connaughton has revealed that she will NOT be seeking re-election to the Council in next year's local election.The Mountbellew based councillor was co-opted to the Council in 2003 to replace her father, Galway East T.D Paul Connaughton.She then ran in the local elections in 2004 in the Tuam electoral area where she topped the poll, but says she will not run in the 2009 elections for 'personal reasons'.A teacher at Athenry Vocational School, Sinéad Connaughton says she will remain in her postition until the election in June next year.
