East Galway native Fianna Fáil Dublin TD Tom Kitt has announced that he will not run in the next General Election The member of the famous Castleblakeney political dynasty made the announcement a day after he was replaced by Pat Carey as Government Chief Whip.Mr Kitt said he informed Taoiseach Brian Cowen that he would continue to represent his Dublin South constituency until the next Election but would not defend his seat then.Mr Kitt also confirmed that Mr Cowen offered him a junior ministry but he declined the offerPolitical sources say Mr Kitt's announcement may be due to his disappointment at not being included in the cabinet However the 56 year old former national school teacher is insisting he wants to try new things
