The HSE West is being accused of heavy-handedness in it's dealings with the public over a controversial plan to build a new car park in Shantalla. It emerged last night that instead of 164 car parking spaces originally sought by the HSE in Shantalla Neighbourhood Park, 235 parking spaces will be applied for. The HSE West has now offered Shantalla residents a land swap of almost half a hectare fronting onto the Costello Road in exchange for their neighbourhood park. The land swap will mean the rezoning of the land involved and residents are anxious that the rezoning and planning application processes occur in tandem. Shantalla Residents Association spokesperson Cllr Colette Connolly says the HSE West is trying to speed up the public consultation process
