SENATOR CLAIMS GALWAY MOTHERS IN CATCH 22 SITUATION

A Galway Senator has hit out at the Government for its rules on rent allowance.Senator Fidelma Healy Eames says mothers in Galway are in a catch 22 situation because if they are on rent allowance, they do not receive childcare support.In one particular case in Galway a single mother had to refuse a job offer because she does not receive childcare support because she receives rent allowance.Senator Healy Eames says this situation means people are more inclined to go on social welfare due to the harsh rent allowance rules.
