A second whale has now been discovered beached in Connemara.

It's understood the mammal, which is dead, washed up on a beach near Tully, Renvyle in the past day or two and the community warden has been notified.

Council staff are due to examine the whale tomorrow [12/1] which is about half the size of the sperm whale which is beached at Omey in Connemara.

That whale, which was discovered over the Christmas period, will be removed tomorrow.
