Date Published: 25-Jan-2013

A jury in the trial of a woman charged with the murder of her former lover has been sent home for the weekend and will resume its deliberations on Monday morning.

Earlier, the jury asked to see the blood-stained jacket which was worn by the victim on the night he died and the knife that was allegedly used to stab him.

31 year old Maura Thornton, from Inverin, Connemara, denies the murder of US national Kevin Joyce at a rented apartment at 183 Upper Salthill on Sunday, July 31, 2011.
