Galway Bay fm newsroom - Galway County Council is expected to update councillors on plans for a road safety scheme at Rossaveal next week.
Around 40 thousand euro has been allocated for works at the R372, the road where Carraroe teenager Leah Feeney lost her life.
15 year old Leah Feeney from Clynagh in Carraroe died after being struck by a car in Rossaveal at about 9:45pm on May 1st.
A local campaign has since been ongoing to install a path at the stretch of road.
An extra 3.4 million euro was allocated to the county council last month for road safety schemes, restoration and improvement works.
40 thousand euro of this funding will go towards a road safety scheme at the R372 in Rossaveal, and landowners are now engaged in talks over plans to construct a footpath at the site.
Director of services for roads and transportation Frank Gilmore told this week's meeting of the local authority that he would update councillors on the scheme next week.
