RESULT EXPECTED NEXT MONTH IN ATHENRY WESTERN ALZHEIMERS PAY DISPUTE

A hearing to be carried out over an ongoing pay dispute at the Western Alzheimers Centre in Athenry has been postponed to next month [October].
21 care assistants at the facility are calling for a reversal of a four percent cut to their hourly rate.
The matter first came before a Rights Commissioner appointed by the Labour Relations Commission in February when the initial hearing took place.
A subsequent hearing had been scheduled to take place in Oranmore this month for three staff who were not present for the earlier case.
However this has now been rescheduled to next month ]12th October ]when the Commission is expected to issue recommendations.
The CEO of Western Alzheimers John Grant says the cuts, which were taken across the board, were the only way to prevent job losses.
