RESTUARANT WORKERS BEGIN PROTEST IN EYRE SQUARE

Date Published: 16-Apr-2010
Restaurant workers have begun protesting this lunchtime outside Supermacs in Eyre Square over what they believe could be future wage reductions.
The Quick Service Food Alliance - which includes Supermacs, McDonalds and Burger King among others - is mounting a legal challenge to the industry's Joint Labour Committee.
Earlier this week, the Restaurant Association of Ireland called for the abolition of the JLC and a cut to the national minimum wage.
Supermac's owner Pat McDonagh says migrant workers are being misled over attempts to reduce minimum wages in the industry.
