Residents living near a proposed retail development in the Westside have hit out at the plans.

Local businessman and former Mayor of Galway Micheal O' hUiginn lodged the planning application for the former T O'Higgins manufacturing site this morning.

The development has been shrouded in controversy due to a zoning legal challenge and residents objections to its scale and resulting traffic.

A spokesperson for Highfield Park Residents Association told Galway Bay fm news that the plans will impact local shops and cause serious traffic problems.
