Report on Galway's bid for European City of Culture to come before councillors
Galway Bay fm newsroom - A report on the bidding process for Galway's planned application to become European City of Culture 2020 is to come before councillors tomorrow.
City Manager Brendan McGrath has discussed the matter with Failte Ireland and has said it would be worthwhile to make a serious and consolidated bid.The competition is not yet open for applications as the European Commission finalises the technical terms and guidelines.Ireland and Croatia have been nominated to host a European Capital of Culture for 2020.Two member states share the title each year with Romania and Greece scheduled for 2021.
