Date Published: 14-Jan-2012
The remains of up to a dozen people have been found in Tuam.
According to the Irish Independent, the discovery was made by contractors as work on the Tuam Public Water project continues.
It's thought the remains may be possible victims of the Great Famine in the 19th Century.
The skeletal remains were uncovered on the site of an old workhouse on the Athenry Road just outside the town.
A team of archaeologists have since been drafted in to begin excavation work.
