REFUSE WAIVER RECIPIENTS TO GET AUTOMATIC RENEWAL

The City Council is to allow people avail of the refuse waiver scheme this year, without having to re-apply.Almost 3,000 customers availed of a refuse waiver in 2007, and will get it automatically again this year without having to fill out and return an application form.Councillor Padraig Conneely had argued at Council meetings about householders having to fill out what he calls a "complicated form" on an annual basis, when their financial circumstances have not changed. However those whose financial status has changed since last year are asked to contact the City Council. The 2008 budget has retained a full waiver service for pensioners, widows, widowers, disability claiments and carers, the unemployed and lone parents.
