Significant redundancies" are expected at Galway airport as a result of Aer Arann's decision to suspend all of its flights in and out of the Carnmore facility.

That's according to Managing Director of the airport, Joe Walsh.

From the end of this month, flights between the airport and London, Manchester, Edinburgh and Waterford will stop for the winter season.

Talks with Aer Arann's 35 flight deck and cabin crew at Galway are underway.

It's understood staff are being offered the option to re-locate or the choice to take unpaid leave through the winter.

Managing Director of Galway Airport, Joe Walsh says unfortunately there will be job losses.
