Publicans lash out at drink drive limit cut

Date Published: 24-Jan-2008

PUBLICANS across County Galway have united to call on the Government to reject proposals for a reduction in the legal alcohol limit for driving, claiming motorists have already “got the message”.The Co. Galway Branch of the Vintners Federation of Ireland have warned that any cut in the drink driving limit will tear apart rural communities and 'criminalise’ decent people.Following a meeting of the local branch, the VFI said statistics and submissions relevant to the proposals should be studied for at least a year before going before the Dail and Seanad for approval.
