PROTEST AGAINST CLOSURE OF ST FRANCIS NURSING HOME

A protest march is to take place in the city tomorrow [Sun Dec 4] against the closure of St. Francis Nursing home.

The HSE plans to close the Newcastle facility in summertime and has already reduced the number of residents.

A petition against the decision has already gathered over 23 thousand signatures and it's hoped a meeting may be arranged at government level next week.

The solidarity march gets underway at 2 tomorrow afternoon from the cathedral.
