The average cost of renting properties in Galway appears to be stabilising.

That's the findings of property website daft dot ie, who analysed rents advertised on its site over the past 12 months.

The average rent in Galway city between April and July was 755 euro, up slightly by point 2 percent, compared to the same time last year.

In the county, the average rent during the same four months was 568 euro, that's down 4 point 6 percent from last year.

The city centre is still one of the most expensive places outside of Dublin for students to rent a double room at 328 euro.

However, that's still a drop of over 3 percent on last years prices.

Economist with daft dot ie, Ronan Lyons, explains an increase of properties in Galway has caused rents to stabilise
