PRESIDENT SENDS MESSAGE TO PEOPLE OF GALWAY

President of Ireland Michael D Higgins says he will miss Galway this christmas time.

The President's comments come as he returns to the Áras today having been discharged from the Bons Secours Hospital in Renmore after a knee operation.

After a period of recuperation, he will focus on desk work after christmas and hopes to resume his travels around the country in mid January.

Speaking on the Keith Finnegan Show, he thanked the people of Galway for their support as he prepares to spend his first christmas with his family in the Áras.
