OWNERS OF OUGHTERARD NURSING HOME APPEAL CLOSURE ORDER

A private nursing home in the county is appealing a closure order issued by the district court in Galway earlier this month.

Galway circuit court heard today that Riverside nursing home limited, the registered owners of Owen Riff nursing home in Oughterard, is now under the care of the HSE.

HIQA, the health and quality authority sought to have the nursing home closed by court order following an inspection.

HIQA inspector Nan Savage told the court today that concerns had been raised in relation to staffing shortages, health care issues and the absence of care records for patients.
