OVER 4000 DRIVERS IN GALWAY GET POINTS FOR SPEEDING

Date Published: 05-Aug-2011

Four thousand four hundred people in Galway have received penalty points for speeding so far this year.

This figure is just three hundred short of the total figure for all of 2010.

So far this year, over 96 thousand drivers from all over Ireland have recieved points for speeding - almost 20 thousand of them were in Dublin.

The increase is linked to the introduction of more than 600 privately operated speed cameras around the country.
