OUGHTERARD WOMAN CONVICTED OF KNOCKING DOWN LOLLIPOP LADY

An Oughterard woman was convicted of careless driving yesterday for knocking down a lollipop lady on the outskirts of the city last year.Factory worker, 35 year old Anne O’Donnell, of 32 Leas na Creige, Oughterard, pleaded guilty to knocking the lollipop lady onto the bonnet of her car on the Moycullen Road, near Bushypark, on November 14 last year.Judge Mary Fahy said the accused was lucky not to have been charged with dangerous driving.However, she accepted it was a very busy junction and convicted O’Donnell of careless driving and fined her 500 euro.
