A public meeting on the controversial septic tank charges takes place in Oranmore tonight.

Galway West Fianna Fáil TD Éamon Ó Cuív has organised the meeting at Maree community centre at 9pm to discuss the implications of the charges for the area.

Meanwhile, the septic tank bill, which prompted over 500 people from the county to demonstrate outside Leinster House yesterday, is under fire in the Dáil.

Leas-cheann comhairle and Galway East TD Michael Kitt has asked Sinn Fein TD Martin Ferris to leave the Dáil after protesting over the rushing through of the new bill.

The Tanaiste Eamon Gilmore accused oppostion parties of trying to frighten elderly people - by suggesting the new bill would cost them large amounts of money to upgrade their septic tanks.

But when the Dail decended into chaos - Micheal Kitt had to ask Martin Ferris to leave the chamber.
