ORAL HEARING HEARS OF FLOODPLAIN IN PATH OF CITY BYPASS

It's been claimed a floodplain lies in the path of the proposed outer city bypass route at Ballindooley A local resident has submitted photographic evidence to representatives of Galway county council at An Bord Pleanala's ongoing Oral Hearing at the Ardilaun Hotel in Salthill. The photos, taken last Sunday, show fields at Ballindooley under water. Galway county council is proposing to build a major junction of the bypass across the same area. Observers are hoping to quiz county council experts this week on the consequences of going ahead with construction of a road across a floodplain. Local resident Michael Tiernan, who took the photos, is very concerned.
