ON CALL SERVICE TO TACKLE GALWAY'S ROAMING HORSES PROBLEM

Date Published: 05-Jun-2012
Plans are afoot for an on-call service which would allow Gardai and the County Council to seize wandering horses.
It follows concerns raised regarding traffic safety on areas such as the Headford Road and the greater Curragh Line area.
A tender process will now be undertaken by the Housing Unit to select a contractor for the seizure and empounding of loose horses.
This temporary operation will be operated on a shared service basis between Gardai and council officials until a permanent solution is found.
