Residents claim proposed new units at a busy intersection in the city could seriously hamper traffic flow.

Sawgrass Properties has applied to build a new shop, off-licence and café at their three storey development at the intersection of Newcastle Road and University Road.

The developers had originally been given the go ahead to build a bank in this unit.

Some local residents are objecting to the city council, claiming the intersection is already "a nightmare" for motorists and bus passengers.
