Ireland could provide global leadership in terms of managing its wind energy.

That's according to one of President Barack Obama's advisors on science and technology who gave a public talk on climate change at NUI Galway today.

Professor Daniel Schrag , who is also director of the Harvard centre for the environment travelled overnight from Boston to Galway to take part in the event.

The talk at the Aula Maxima opened the Climate gathering which sees world leaders in the field come to the Burren in County Clare to find a new narrative on climate change.

Around 50 people from 10 countries will take part in the three day event which gets underway tommorow.

Professor Daniel Schrag says Ireland could become a global leader in green energy
