NUIG to offer extra CAO points for creative arts
Galway Bay fm newsroom - NUIGalway has announced that it's offering extra CAO points to students with exceptional achievements in the creative arts.
Students who meet strict criteria will be awarded 40 CAO 'performance points' under the college's Creative Arts Scholarship Scheme.
The extra CAO points are to recognise the significant time and dedication students have shown to reach an exceptional level in their chosen field.
The areas which will be open to the performance points are creative writing, digital arts and media, Drama Theatre & Performance, Film and non-fiction writing including journalism.
Successful applicants will be assigned a mentor in their creative arts discipline, who will help them develop as artists.
Today's announcement follows a controversial announcement last month by NUIG that it would also award 40 performance points to exceptional athletes towards undergraduate courses.
