Scientists at NUI Galway have launched a Cross-Border Research alliance to tackle Diabetes.

They've teamed up with the University of Ulster, the HSE West and the Western Health Trust to find solutions related to the growing problem of diabetes.

One of their first goals will be to seek funding for four key areas of research, including diabetic pregnancies and diabetic care in rural areas.

Consultant Endocrinologist at UHG and NUI Galway Professor Tim O'Brien says 60 researchers will be working on how to improve care for people with diabetes
